Many of us are now realising the benefits of ‘lightening our carbon footprint’ and as a result we are demanding an increasing emphasis on environmentally friendly and sustainable products and services. The Public & Private Sector, along with the general public are increasingly supporting Green initiatives and construction practices. Commercial buildings are one of the biggest contributors of greenhouse gases to the environment. This is not only as a result of their day to day operation, but also the substantial environmental impacts during construction.

Mechanical Services and associated systems are one of the key consumers of energy and water in many commercial buildings. Built Air Australia’s aim is to partner with our clients to provide cost effective, environmentally sustainable and energy efficient Mechanical Services solutions, from design, to construction of your capital development, to building and implementing a plan to reduce your energy usage and costs. We will achieve this by challenging existing standards, policies and procedures to test their value whilst investing in emerging and innovative technologies.

Built Air Australia has an Environmental Vision to ‘lighten our carbon footprint’ and we aim to achieve this by partnering with our clients and adopting the principles of sustainable development. We believe our clients recognise their responsibility to meet the communities’ expectations and we are committed to the continuous improvement of our environmental performance and that of our clients. We believe that environmental sustainability is both Built Air Australia’s obligation and the responsibility of our clients.

To allow both us and our clients to achieve these outcomes, we will: -

• Maintain and continuously improve our Environment Management System across our organisation.
• Ensure that all employees and contractors receive appropriate training to fulfil their individual environmental responsibilities.
• Establish annual environmental objectives and targets and implement programs to achieve them.
• As a minimum comply with relevant legal and other requirements.
• Ensure that we have the resources and skills necessary to achieve our environmental commitments.
• Implement strategies to minimise pollution, manage waste effectively and use water and energy efficiently.
• Require that companies providing services to Built Air Australia manage their environmental performance in line with our beliefs.
• Maintain an active involvement in sustainability conferences, seminars and industry workshops.
• Educate and encourage all staff on environmental impacts and how they can make a difference both at work and at home.
• Develop a culture where the environment is a significant consideration in the company’s daily activities and decision making processes.
• Actively seeking to partner with clients involved in environmentally friendly projects.
• Review all Built Air Australia operations and initiate economically viable directives to decrease energy usage and environmental impacts of our daily operations.
• Working with our clients to deliver enhanced environmental outcomes through alternative designs and the provision of emerging and innovative technologies.

By implementing the above measures and partnering with like minded clients we believe we can achieve our Environmental Vision to ‘lighten our carbon footprint’ ensuring a sustainable environment for generations to come.
